1st & 2nd grade

August 2016

Welcome to the 1st and 2nd grade class at the New Woodroe Woods!

For the 2016 – 2017 school year I have a variety of comprehensive, high impact and engaging special units and events planned.  New this year:  Woodroe Woods adopted a new language arts and mathematics program.  The language arts program is “Journeys” by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.  Journeys is embedded with rigorous standards and meaningful content that allow students to achieve higher levels in reading, writing, and critical foundational skills.

The mathematics program is “Math Expressions” by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Math Expressions emphasizes on in-depth math through real world problem situations, modeling, and conceptual language.  We have also adopted a new leveled reading program by Fountas and Pinnell.

I have so much in store for our students and families!!!  Providing high quality, captivating, and differentiated instruction that empowers students to learn and thrive in a loving environment is my mission as an educator.  I’m so excited for new beginnings with old friends.  This school year is going to rock!      Teacher Vanessa
